Kenya to construct expressway from Nairobi to Mombasa

Kenya Railways has announced the extension of the Madaraka Express tickets purchased by parents for students to travel back to school.

In a statement Kenya Railways said the tickets that were to be used between Monday and Friday, May 3, 2024, will remain open for use from May 6, 2024, to May 10, 2024.

“We wish to notify members of the public that owing to the postponement of school opening dates for all primary and secondary schools by the Ministry of Education, all student tickets purchased for travel between today, Monday, April 29th, and Friday, May 3rd, 2024 aboard the Madaraka Express will remain OPEN for use from Monday, May 6th to Friday, May 10th, 2024,” reads in part.

The corporation noted that the ticket extension will only apply to students and their accompanying guardian

The announcement comes after the Ministry of Education postponed school reopening which was set for Monday, April 29.

In a notice, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said the postponement is due to the heavy rains experienced in the country directing parents and schools across the country to prepare for school reopening next week.
