Over 20,000 guards could lose their jobs after regulator delisted nine firms

The umbrella body representing private security firms has warned of massive job losses after the Private Security Regulatory Authority Revoked the licenses of nine companies.

In a statement, the Professional Security and Safety Association Companies feared that 20,000 security personnel working with the affected companies would be impacted.

The decision came after PSRA revoked the licenses of firms such as Senaca East Africa Ltd., Bedrock Security Alarms Systems, and Hipora Security Solutions, among others, for failing to adhere to the minimum wage of Sh30,000.

The umbrella body added that the nine companies recently underwent stringent vetting procedures and had been issued 5-year operating licenses; apart from 3, whose applications are being processed.
