Smallholder farmers in rural areas can now get loans and grants following a deal entered between the government and the International Fund for Agricultural Development
The project dubbed ‘Rural Kenya Financial Inclusion Facility that will run for 6 years targets youth, women, and people living with disabilities by providing them with technical assistance in the food value chain and marketing
The Government will pump in Sh10.68 billion into the kitty, whereas the partners and the private sector cash in Sh3.23 billion .
Speaking while signing the pact Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo said owing to the 23 percent input of the agricultural sector to the GDP, the partnership is a boost to the economy
