The Kenya Premier is set to begin this Saturday, match officials saying they are ready for the games.
114 match officials and 45 match commissioners underwent three day mandatory training in Kasarani Stadium to test their physical and medical suitability to officiate the two men and women top tier leagues.
FKF National Super League match officials are slated to commence their PET on Thursday, August 24, 2023, while the FKF Division One match officials will follow suit on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Subsequently, have received training on the updates to the laws of the game for the 2023/24 season, equipping them with the knowledge needed to implement these changes on the field.
They have underwent a series of endurance and agility drills to evaluate their physical abilities and medical assessments to ensure they are fit for officiating league matches.
FKF Referees Manager Sylvester Kirwa, shed light on some of the forthcoming rule changes, notably in the offside law.
“Some of the changes we should anticipate relate to the offside law. Yearly, we encounter issues with this law, and FIFA is actively working to enhance its clarity and simplicity. This aims to make it more accessible for referees to interpret the modifications in the fundamental offside rule,” explained Sylvester Kirwa, FKF Referees Manager.
The PET training is being spearheaded by Sylvester Kirwa, Stephen Oduor, Dorcas Moraa, Moses Osano, and Tabitha Njoroge.
