Leaders whose churches were deregistered threaten to file appeal

Religious leaders whose churches were deregistered  by the registrar of societies have threatened to challenge the decision in court which they have termed unfair

In what appeared as a defiance to Maria Nyariki, some of the churches yesterday went on with  their services despite the order to shut them down.

According to the Bishop Thomas Wahome who under the directive of shutting down over 50 other branches of his Helicopter church, the govt had not issued him with a summon letter to grant the order.

On Friday the government revoked registrations of several churches, including Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s Kilifi-based Church who conducted his services online

Others include Good News International Ministries that is owned by Pastor Paul Mackenzie who is currently in detention, the Theophilus Church and Kings Outreach Church.

Registrar of Societies, Chairman, Maria Nyariki said the wa informed by the  investigation into allegations of money laundering and cult-related activities associated with the church

This comes on the back Of  the Shakahola Cult probe led by Preacher Paul Mackenzie that has so far claimed the lives of over 400 people and the John Pesa’s church in Kisumu which chained its congregants.
