2023-24 Premier League Season kicks off Friday

The 2023-24 Premier League season kicks off today as reigning champions Manchester City travel to a Burnley side led by a former city player legend.

Vincent Kompany will be in the opposition dugout after leading the Clarets back to the top-flight in his first season as their manager.

City will be hoping to steal an early march on their rivals, many of whom have spent big this summer to try to close the gap.

On Saturday, the Gunners host Nottingham Forest, while Newcastle face Aston Villa in a contest between two sides making their return to European competition this campaign.

Sunday brings the debut of two new bosses as Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou takes his side to Brentford before Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea host Liverpool.

The games will be turning up for the campaign this month few days to the close of the Transfer window with major signing still expected to deepen the depths

Liverpool remains in talks with Brighton over a potential deal for Moises Caicedo should a move to Chelsea not materialize.

The clubs have discussed the financial terms and payment structure of a transfer as the Merseysideiders consider sanctioning the highest spend – by a stretch – in their history.

Brighton values Caicedo in the region of £100m.

Liverpool’s late entry into negotiations was prompted by Chelsea’s failure to agree a fee after months of pursuing the midfielder.

If there is no movement with Chelsea and Caicedo indicates he wants to line up under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool are ready to advance matters. Bayern Munich are also exploring a deal.

No two rounds of fixtures will take place within 48 hours of each other across Christmas and New Year making the season come to an end on May 19, 2024
