Paul Bitok: Paris 2024 Olympics is ours to win

Malkia strikers technical Coach Paul Bitok is confident of winning the Paris Olympics Volleyball with over a year to the games

Bitok says everything is set go for the games that will be held in Paris, France, between 26th July to 11th of August 2024.

This follows the completion of visa processing for the team that had delayed their travel to Morocco for camps training.

“We do not have the choice, we participated last time in the Olympics, and we want to participate again, and for that we must win the Africa Cup of nations, so that we can have the ticket for Paris 2024”, he said

While speaking to Pearl Radio, at Nyayo Stadium indoor gymnasium during the final games of the Paul Bitok Tournaments, the coach who also directs KCB volleyball team, noted that ladies will get adequate training and exposure in their month-long stay in Morocco ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations volleyball games.

“Usually when we are outside the country for preparation we have less disturbance, we also have friendly matches. Like Morocco has organized four teams that will play with us for the internationally friendly matches.”

The continental games are expected to run from end of July to Mid August, Bitok saying winning the games against the four Africa teams will create an edge for the national team to the Olympic games.

According to Bitok, the able girls are optimistic of winning the upcoming games, adding that it had became daunting to pick the national team from local clubs.

“Everyone is looking forward to be in the Olympics, we are fighting and working very hard for the international spot. It became very hard to name the team as the girls are very eager to win the games and giving their all. We have Sharon Chepchumba playing in Greece and Veronicah Adhiambo playing Turkey that means the girls are very eager to win.” Bitok added.

Bitok also thanked the National Olymoics Organising commitee NOCK for the one million shilling boost to facilitate travel and hotel while in Morocco.

If the Malkia strikers qualify for next years Olympics, it will mark their fourth round in the tournament following their 2000, 2003 & the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
