Haaland now the all time premier league top scorer in a single season

Erling Haaland is now the premier league top scorer in a single season after netting his 35th goal of the season against Wet Ham on Wednesday.

The Norwegian now moves past Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole’s previous best of 34 goals .

Haaland had already set a record for a 38-game season, beating Mohamed Salah’s 32 goals for Liverpool in 2017-18.

“It’s a special night and a special moment. I’m really happy and proud,” Haaland said.

The 22-year-old has another five games to add to his tally.

Haaland’s 35th top-flight goal of the season came via a deft finish in the second half of a 3-0 win against the Hammers that sent City back to the top of the league.

He was given a guard of honour by his team-mates, boss Pep Guardiola and the club’s backroom staff after the final whistle at Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s 51st goal of the season brought him ever closer to Dixie Dean’s seemingly unbeatable record of 65 goals in the 1927-28 campaign.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola described Haaland as a ‘unique and special’ person and footballer.

‘It’s unbelievable how many goals he has scored and all the important goals he has scored to help us win games and all the things like that.’ he said.

Manchester City still has five matches to play before the end of the season ,meaning Haaland may add to his current tally of 35 goals.
