Arsenal and Chelsea on deadline day activity

Arsenal have agreed a £12m deal with Chelsea to sign Italy midfielder Jorginho.

The 31-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2014, is into the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

He will now have a medical before signing an 18-month contract with the option of a further year.

The Gunners turned their attention to Jorginho after having two bids rejected by Brighton for Moises Caicedo.

Arsenal has also allowed Sambi Lokonga to move to Crystal Palace on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Meanwhile Paris St-Germain are in advanced talks with Chelsea over a permanent or loan move for Morocco forward Hakim Ziyech.

PSG are also in talks with Inter Milan for defender Milan Skriniar, whose contract expires this summer.

The 29 year old Ziyech was Chelsea’s first signing following their transfer ban in 2020, arriving from Ajax for £33m.

The Blues also continue to chase the signature of Enzo Fernandez as the January transfer window draws to a close.

In the Manchester City camp, manager Pep Guardiola has offloaded Joao Cancelo after a period of uncertainty in the club for the right back.

Cancelo has joined Bayern Munich on loan but the defender has insisted that he does not want to return to Etihad after the loan spell.

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic said: ‘Joao is a player we’ve been thinking about for a while now because we very much appreciate his qualities.

‘He’s the optimal fit in our system with his attacking style of play and dynamism, and his mentality and experience fit very well in our team.

City now remains with Kyle Walker for the right back position with Nathan Ake also a possible replacement for the position.
