FIFA lifts suspension on Kenya

FIFA has lifted the suspension imposed on Kenyan football following interference form the government.

In a letter from FIFA to FKF CEO Barry Otieno, it stated that FIFA is satisfied with the recent reinstating of the FKF office to run football activities in the country without prejudice.

The lifting of the suspension comes after Sports CS Ababu Namwamba allowed the FKF CEO and Vice president of the federation Doris Petra to run the affairs of the game again .

Ababu also met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the sidelines of the ongoing FIFA world cup in Qatar.

The lifting of the suspension means that Kenyan players and clubs and national team can transact internationally on transfers and playing in international and continental tournaments and leagues.

The sports CS has however warned that the federation has to play to the rules for the gain of Players and fans of the game.

It is however not known if confederation of African Football will allow Kenya back into the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Locally the FKF premier league ha already started with two rounds of matches already played.
