AWCON: Harambee starlets thrash S. Sudan team 8-0

During the Mashuja celebration, the South Sudan Bright starlets team that had camped within the Kenya’s borders received an eight nil thrash by the games host Harambee starlets, during the African Women cup of Nation Cup championship group stages match at the Nyayo National stadium.

Neddy Akoth’s four goals and a brace apiece from Jentrix Shikangwa and Mwanahalima Adam were enough for Harambee Starlets.

The Afternoon game that has seen the Kenyan women team vie for the cup after a narrow drop since 2016 in their first continental debut. Kenyan team also lost to Equatorial Guinea in 2018 and hoped for a chance in 2020 where the competition was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The neighbors had just jetted into the country, under the tutelage of their coach Boysen and Kenya’s assistant coach Florence Adhiambo from a series of losses in their COSAFA championships matches from South Africa.

Harambee starlets head coach Charles Okere however ,does not underrate the efforts by the South Sudan team,as he still lauded his team in the great win. Madam Boysen however complains on Pressure from the series of losses from the team but she is hopeful for better performances.

Team Kenya and South Sudan still have date on Sunday for a return leg of the group stages match ahead of the AWCON cup.
