Egypt will lift its Covid-19 restrictions from Tuesday.

Since 6th of May, stores, malls and restaurants had to close by 9 pm local time after a rise in infections.

However in the new measures, businesses will be allowed to operate longer.

In Egypt, the closing time for businesses ranges from 10pm local time to midnight.

The country relies heavily on tourism and in an effort to bring back income in the tourism sector completed vaccinating workers at all of the hotels in the Southern Sinai and Red Sea provinces.

It also plans to inoculate all residents of the Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheik resorts.

Flights between Israel and Sharm el-Sheik will also resume following an official visit to Cairo by Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.

Egypt began its vaccination campaign in January 2021, with the country receiving its first shipments of Chinese Sinopharm vaccines in December 2020.
