Jose Mourinho has been appointed AS Roma manager starting next season.
The 58-year-old will replace fellow Portuguese Paulo Fonseca, who Roma announced earlier on Tuesday would leave at the end of the current season.
Mourinho, sacked by Tottenham just last month , has signed a three-year deal with the three-time Serie A champions.
Mourinho’s previous stint in Italian football was a successful one with Inter Milan that produced four major honors in two years.
He won the Italian title twice, and a historic treble in 2009-10 which also saw them claim the Champions League and Coppa Italia.
The most pressing priority will be fixing the defence but Mourinho may need to take a look at Roma’s attacking options .
Roma have scored just 58 Serie A goals all season and it helps explain why they’re set to be in the new Europa Conference League next season.
But they have Borja Mayoral, with 15 goals in all competitions and 35-year-old Edin Dzeko and ex-Chelsea forward Pedro, who is 33.
Roma are currently in the Europa league semi final where they lost 6-2 in the fisrt leg against Manchester United .
The second leg plays on Thursday with Roma having no chance of overturning the deficit .
