UCL: Liverpool outplayed by Real Madrid as Klopp complains but Manchester City edge Dortmund

Jurgen Klopp has criticized  referee Felix Brych for his officiating during Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat at Real Madrid in the Champions League last eight first leg tie .

A furious Klopp accused his German compatriot Brych of making ‘personal decisions’ against his forward  Sadio Mane .

Mane appeared to be fouled by Lucas Vasquez just 20 seconds before the Marco Asensio’s goal.

‘The situation with Sadio, I’m not sure what the ref did tonight,’ a livid Klopp said. ‘It seemed like it was sort of personal.  He didn’t lose us the game but you need just an OK ref.’ Klopp lamented.

Klopp was also furious when Mane appeared to have been fouled again on the edge of Madrid’s box only for the referee to ignore .

Klopp however took aim at his own side’s display in the Spanish capital which he said was below expectation.

In the match Vinicius junior scored twice and Marco Asensio had a goal between to seal the win.

Liverpool will however hang on the crucial Mo Salah away goal as they head to anfield for the return leg.

 At Etihad stadium, Manchester  City were lucky to escape with a 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund in an entertaining tie.

Kevin de Bruyne gave City the lead with a crisp finish after 19 minutes and produced a fine cross that was touched back by Ilkay Gundogan for Foden to  finish.
