President Ruto Set to Depart for Germany

President William Ruto is scheduled to depart for Germany today for an official visit, during which he will witness the signing of a Bilateral Labor Agreement between Kenya and Germany, concluding months of negotiations aimed at fostering labor mobility.

The labor pact, initiated in March 2024, will facilitate the migration of 250,000 professional, skilled, and semi-skilled Kenyans to Germany, addressing the country’s significant labor shortages.

This visit marks President Ruto’s third trip to Germany, with his previous visit taking place in November 2023.

The second round of technical negotiations for the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement was concluded in Nairobi in May, paving the way for the formalization of the agreement during this visit.

State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed noted that, in addition to witnessing the signing, the president will engage in several high-profile meetings expected to generate “real, tangible, and immediate benefits” for the Kenyan people.

The two-day visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations between Nairobi and Berlin, enhancing opportunities for Kenyans abroad.
