Parliament begins vetting of Douglas Kanja for the IG position

Douglas Kanja Kirocho will from Friday be appearing before The joint National Assembly Committee on Administration and Internal Security, and the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations, to defend his suitability for the position of Inspector General of Police. 

The vetting session will be co-chaired  By Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo, and William Cheptumo of Baringo County.

President William Ruto nominated Douglas Kanja for the position following the resignation of Japhet Koome on July 12, 

He has previously served as the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service and was the Commandant of the General Service Unit for five years. 

Before then he held the position of Deputy Commandant of the GSU for three years and was the County Police Commander in charge of Kilifi County.
