Shujaa beat Germany in Madrid to return to the HSBC World series

It is a welcome back Kenya to the HSBC Rugby series after being relegated in the play off finals last year

Shujaa  beat Germany 33-15 at the promotion playoffs in Wanda Madrid having shown Chile and Samoa bad things after beating them 36-7 on Friday and and 19-12 o Saturday respectively.

Germany were the first over the line but captain Vincent Onyala struck almost immediately with co-captain Tony Omondi adding the extras to secure a 7-5 lead in the opening exchanges.

Shujaa’s momentum seemed to wither momentarily after Chrisant Ojwang was sent to the sin bin

John Okoth who has been brilliant throughout the weekend extended Shujaa’s  lead with another touchdown with Tony Omondi adding the extras.

The second half started on a similar see-saw pattern as the first, John Okoth putting his name on the scoreboard with Shujaa’s third try before co-captain Tony Omondi converted.

Kevin Wekesa then added a fifth at the death before Omondi successfully converted to all but confirm Kenya’s place at the creme-de-la-creme of rugby 7s.
