Embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna arrived in the country today after he was deported in March 2018 for swearing in then opposition leader Raila Odinga as the people’s president.

Miguna was on board a Kenya Airways flight which touched down a few minutes past 6:00am.

Since his deportation to Canada, Miguna was unable to travel back to Kenya despite court orders that he be allowed into the country.

This is as the Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime ignored the court orders insisting that he was not a Kenyan citizen.

On 6th of January 2020, Justice Weldon Korir ordered his return to Kenya and suspended the State’s declaration that he was a prohibited immigrant.

“An order be and is hereby issued, that pending and following the inter-partes hearing of the Application, compelling the Respondents to facilitate entry of the Petitioner into Kenya on January 7, 2020 or any other date appointed by the Petitioner on the basis of his identification through the use of his National Identity Card, or his Kenya Passport in the form and state it was delivered by the Respondents to the High Court Registry pursuant to this Court’s Order,” reads court papers.

Miguna also claimed that his passport was confiscated and destroyed, and subsequent court orders to issue him with a new passport or travel documents were ignored by the Jubilee administration.

However recently President William Ruto lifted the red alerts imposed by the Jubilee government to block Miguna’s return to Kenya.

Miguna also said the Ruto administration sent him a new passport.

“The government of William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the Red Alerts Uhuru Kenyatta illegally imposed against me with the connivance of Raila Odinga. My arrival: October 20 at 6am. The Rule of law, fearlessness, persistence and focus have prevailed,” Miguna tweeted on 12th of October 2022.
