Judges and Magistrates Union sue the DCI over the ‘illegal’ arrests of two judges

The lawyers who are representing justices Aggrey Muchelule and Said Juma Chitembwe have filed a case in court after what they referred to as an illegal arrest of judges last evening.

Lawyer Danstan Omari condemned the arrest of the two on claims of corruption saying it was unconstitutional.

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta said  the two judges were not given the right of being represented during the arrest and search in their offices.

Ombeta added that DCI must answer of their actions after the DPP Noordin Haji said he was not involved in the arrest of the judges.

The DPP said the matter of the judges had not been brought to his attention .

The two judges were later released from the DCI HQs after being questioned.

High court judge Aggrey Muchelule is one of the six judges who was not appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta after being recommended by the Judicial service commission.

The presidency claimed that the judges had questionable character but no evidence was availed.
