University reforms in the country must be conducted in strict compliance with the law.
Education CS George Magoha states that all legal bodies must always be involved in any of the reforms.
The CS has also called for the reduction of the cost of non-academic human resources.
Magoha was speaking in Gem, Siaya County, during the handover ceremony of Moi University’s Odera Akango college campus to Maseno University.
Magoha’s comments come in the midst of an administrative impasse between University of Nairobi vice-chancellor, Stephen Kiama and himself.
The education CS stopped administrative reforms, that Prof Kiama had initiated with the support of the council.
This followed the IMF identifying the varsity as a public body earmarked for reforms due to their poor financial standing.
