Deputy President William Ruto has criticized political leaders seeking to amend the country’s constitution through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) process.
Speaking to small scale traders in Machakos town he said, the main focus should be on empowering Kenyans through employment and business opportunities, which have been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Kalonzo, Raila, Musalia and the others say they are working together to see through changes in the constitution. We on the other hand say, what matters most is empowering Kenyans and growing the economy, said DP Ruto.
He said his focus at the moment is on growing the country by empowering Kenyans through business opportunities.
“We are working with the bottom-up approach, that seeks to benefit Kenyans first…. for years, we have given our leaders priority…we need to change the narrative,” added His Excellency Hon. Ruto.
This comes ODM Leader Raila Odinga yet again drums up support for constitutional amendments.
Addressing Muslim clerics and leaders in Mombasa County he said the BBI changes are for the betterment of the nation.
“The BBI proposals aim at enhancing governance across the country, reggae has not been stopped” Raila said.
