A Vodacom’s executive has been appointed to head Ethiopia’s Safaricom consortium unit.
Anwar Soussa is now the managing director of the operating company in Ethiopia.
Mr. Soussa has been managing Vodacom DRC. He was the chairman of Vodacash, an M-pesa equivalent but will now be reporting to Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa and the board of the Ethiopian unit.
In a statement, Anwar said he will formulate strategies to deliver quality and affordable mobile and internet connectivity.
He further brings great expertise to the job, with years of experience from working as Airtel’s CEO in Uganda and Chad as well as serving MTN in various capacities.
