Fatherhood: Netflix’s Teary True Story

Genre: Comedy | Drama

Casts: Kevin Hart, Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery

Ratings: 7.5/10

Released Date (Streaming): 18th June 2021

Storyline: The movie opens with Matthew Logelin (Kevin Hart) getting ready to attend a funeral. Through a series of flashbacks, viewers learn that his wife, Liz (Deborah Ayorinde), tragically passed away due to a childbirth complication. As a result, he’s now the sole guardian of their new daughter, Maddy.

The problem isn’t that Matt is incapable of taking care of a child. Instead, his mom and mother-in-law refuse to let him try. After a few weeks, he convinces his family to return home, so he and Maddy can begin their lives together.

Fatherhood takes place over the course of several years, beginning with infant Maddy and continuing throughout her childhood. Matt endures multiple struggles that single parents face, like meeting new partners and encouraging independence, even if it means letting Maddy make her own decisions.

Thumbs up: Fatherhood is a wonderful movie that can make some people tear up. It tackles the issues and challenges of single parents so perfectly. Moreover, Kevin Hart as usual nailed it as he plays the role of a meaningful father.

Thumbs down: The movie did not reflect more on the book, ‘Two Kisses for Maddy’, thus it was more or less disappointing.

All in all, you will enjoy watching Fatherhood and we can’t wait to see Kevin Hart is more dramatic movies.
