Dozens of children, mostly girls, have been kidnapped by jihadist groups in the last one year in Nigeria.
According to a charity organization Save the Children, at least 51 children have been abducted amid violence and insecurity that saw thousands displaced.
The charity says the number of abductions is likely to be higher, as it only has a record of the reported cases.
It has expressed concern saying the abductions are an alarming tactic by armed groups involved in the conflict.
The charity’s country director Chance Briggs says the abductions are among the violations of children’s rights as defined by the United Nations.
Save the Children is now calling for the immediate release of all the abducted children.
It also wants all the perpetrators to be held to account.
