Police are also currently holding the family driver, James Mahinda Mwangi, two other suspects, Geoffrey Waturi and Eddy Kariuki, and a lady, Charity Muchiri.

The deceased had separated from his wife whom his friends say was being housed by her father-in-law. The police statement also alleged that the driver had been given Ksh 20,000 to facilitate the murder.

According to DCI Boss George Kinoti, the scene of the crime was puzzling and suspicious as nothing was stolen from the house of the deceased. “So puzzling was the motive behind his murder that nothing had been stolen from him or his house, not even his Volkswagen Golf car beside which he lay lifeless.”

Kinoti says that a manhunt has been launched for a sixth suspect who is believed to have helped the others. He has been on the run since the incident happened.

The suspects were arrested on the 20th of February in Githurai, Mweiga and Embu Township. A ruling on the case will be made today.
