Jan, 29th 2021 – President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to land in Sagana Nyeri county for a 4-day working tour of the central Kenya region. According to state house spokesperson Kanze Dena, the president will tomorrow hold a meeting with central Kenya leaders at the sagana state lodge as one of his agenda’s for the tour.
Kanze says that the closed-door consultative meeting whose main agenda is development will be open to only invited central Kenya leaders. The president is also expected to inspect national government projects in the region.
She also assured the public that all the meetings held will adhere to all the safety protocols put in place by the Ministry of Health to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Speaking earlier at the Sagana State Lodge, Kanze Dena said President Uhuru is following the issue of unrest in schools and has instructed the education ministry to establish the cause of the unrest.
According to Gatanga MP Nduati Ngugi, he received an invitation through a text message from Maore. Mt Kenya region County Assemblies Forum representative Charles Ng’ang’a said that the MCAs will meet the President to discuss among other issues, the BBI and fight against corruption in counties.
Part of the message read, “The meeting will discuss among other things, members welfare and independence at county assemblies as an important enabling environment in their oversight role and the fight against corruption.”
The meeting will also look at the development scorebook. Ng’ang’a said, “We will meet with the President for housekeeping before holding the main meeting which will now include other stakeholders such as the opinion leaders and the church leadership.”
Tangatanga leaders have claimed that they have not been invited to the Sgana meeting. According to them, this is due to their allegiance to the Deputy President. Senate Whip Irungu Kangata alleged that he has not received an invitation.
