Jan, 19th 2021 – The 2021 Kenya Cup season kicks off on the 27th of next month after getting clearance from the sports ministry.
Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) says the season will run for 11 match days with the top four teams qualifying for the semi finals on 22nd May. The winners of the semi final encounters will play in the Kenya Cup final on 29th May.
The season will first be preceded by the Kenya Cup qualifiers involving the top six teams from the 2019/20 KRU Championship.
The qualifiers will be played on 6th and 13th February. All fixtures will be played in without fans inline with the COVID 19 protocols.
Meanwhile the Kenya sevens team had already been given a go ahead to start training under coach Innocent Simiyu . The men and the women teams are preparing for the resumption of the IRB series and also the Toyko Olympics .
