Executive orders for Biden to reverse Trump’s policies

Jan, 18th 2021 – Details are emerging of a raft of executive orders planned by US president-elect Joe Biden as soon as he takes office this week. Mr. Biden will issue decrees to reverse President Trump’s travel bans and re-join the Paris climate accord on his first day.

Biden is also expected to focus on reuniting families separated at the US-Mexico border and to issue mandates on Covid-19 and mask-wearing.

Biden will also focus on extending the pause on student loan repayments and actions which is meant to prevent evictions for those struggling during the pandemic.

Biden’s incoming chief of staff, Ron Klain, in a memo to senior staff said, “These executive actions will deliver relief to the millions of Americans that are struggling in the face of these crises.”

He added, “President-elect Biden will take action, not just to reverse the gravest damages of the Trump administration, but also to start moving our country forward.”

Biden also unveiled a 1.9trillion dollar stimulus plan for the coronavirus-sapped US economy before he takes office next week.

VIOLENCE

All 50 US states are on high alert for possible violence in the run-up to the inauguration ceremony, with National Guard troops deployed in their thousands, to guard Washington DC.

The FBI had earlier warned of a possibility of violence days before Biden’s swearing-in. The security officials were however confident that there will be no repeat of the breach that was seen on the 6th of January. This was when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol vandalizing property in the process.

Trump was however impeached being accused of inciting riot among his supporters. The article of his impeachment stated, “Trump repeatedly issued false statements asserting that the presidential election results were fraudulent and should not be accepted.”

Biden his vice president elect Kamala Harris will besworn in on Wednesday.
