Jan, 15th 2021 – Manchester United’s marksman Bruno Fernandes has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for December, collecting the accolade for the fourth time in 2020.
In the space of less than a year with the club, the Portuguese playmaker has also equaled the four times Cristiano Ronaldo won the award when he was at Old Trafford.
He becomes the first player to win the award four times in the same calendar year. Fernandes scored three goals and contributed three assists in United’s Premier League matches during the month of December, helping them climb to their current position at the top of the table.
Overall, he has 15 goals and nine assists in all competitions during what is turning out to be a highly productive campaign for the player signed from Sporting Lisbon in January last year.
Fernandes had previously scooped the player of the month award in February, June and November.
He also becomes the first player to win it in back-to-back months since Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in March 2018.
