Jan 6th 2021 – Gor mahia will this afternoon face CR Blezoudad of Algeria in the CAF champions league match at the Nyayo stadium.
Kogalo will have to overturn a six goal deficit to go past the Algerians to the group stages. Gor Mahia stand-in coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has admitted it is mission impossible to score seven.
During the first leg played at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 Stadium, goals from Amir Sayoud, who scored a hat-trick, Hamza Bellahouel, Larbi Tabti, and Maecky Ngombo were enough to put Belouizdad on course to qualify.
There has however been a suspected disquiet in the Kogalo camp with some players absconding training due to unpaid salaries and allowances.
The match plays from 3 pm but behind closed doors due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
During the match, Kenyan Dr. Wycliffe Makanga has been appointed as the Covid-19 officer while Mzee Ali Zam from Zanzibar will act as the Match Commissioner.
Omollo after the team’s training at Nyayo stadium on Tuesday said, “This is a game we are playing to win and I have urged the players not to focus on getting the seven goals, but a win of any kind. Remember our opponents are a tough team and we have to up our game. I have no injury worries and we shall have an experienced squad feature in the match.”
