Dec, 24th 2020 – The 2020 Club World Cup is set to be held in Qatar from 1st to 11th February 2021 after being postponed earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tournament is set to be held across three venues designed for the 2022 World Cup.
It will feature European champions Bayern Munich, CONCACAF champions Tigres from (Mexico), CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly SC (Egypt) along with Ulsan Hyundai, who recently won the AFC Champions League and will join Al Duhail and Auckland City in the tournament.
“Hosting the second edition of the FIFA Club World Cup in a row will allow FIFA to build on its operational experience and apply learnings both from 2019,” said Nasser Al Khater, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC’s Chief Executive Officer.
He also said “it will help ensure FIFA delivers an amazing experience for every fan when the Middle East and Arab world hosts its first FIFA World Cup in just under two years’ time”.
The upcoming edition was originally scheduled to take place in Doha December 2020.
