Dec, 23rd 2020 – Manchester city and Brentford are in the semi finals of the EFL cup after victory over Arsenal and Newcastle respectively. City hit Arsenal 4-1 at the emirates stadium to further complicate the situation for manager Mikel Arteta.
Arteta said, “It’s a hard one to take considering how the game went. This level of opponent, when you give the goals away it makes the game impossible. A lot of strange things are happening in every game and that makes things really difficult. Runarsson has not played a lot of games for us. We all make mistakes and have to support him.”
Brentford shocked Newcastle 1-0 to make it to the semi for the first time in the history of the club. On Wednesday night ,Stoke plays Tottenham Hotspur and Everton face Manchester United.
Thomas Frank’s team had already knocked out West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Fulham proceeding to the quarter-finals. Their fourth Premier League scalp took them into their first ever major domestic cup semi-final.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said, “I’m bitterly disappointed and very frustrated at this minute.”
