Dec, 23rd 2020 – Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka was laid to rest on Tuesday at his home in Mikuyu village, Masinga Sub-County.
Several high-profile leaders including Deputy President William Ruto, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Senators Irungu Kangata of Murang’a, and President of the Law Society of Kenya Nelson Havi, attended the burial. In his speech, Havi said Kabaka will be remembered as a lawyer who played an impacting role in the legal fraternity.
Havi said, “Today us a day that we congregate here to celebrate the life of Boniface Kabaka. Kabaka left an indelible mark in the legal profession and in the legislature. He will be distinguished as a man who was articulate, as a man who was precise, as a man who stood for something.”
He joined politics in 2013 when he contested for the Machakos senator seat but lost it to Johnstone Muthama. He was then recruited by Machakos Governor Alfred Mututa as the governor’s principal advisor on legal issues as he was a lawyer.
However, his team at the Machakos County government was short lived and left two years later. He then made a come back in 2017 securing Machako’s Senate seat on the Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party ticket at a time when the wave of the Wiper Democratic Movement was raging through Ukambani.
Kabaka died at Nairobi Hospital while receiving treatment, after he collapsed at a hotel in Nairobi.
