NBA Season is back!

Dec, 22nd 2020 – The NBA season is back after the shortest preseason in the history of the game due to the corona virus pandemic. On Tuesday night will see two season openers as Golden state warriors play Brooklyn nets. Later on Champions Los Angeles Lakers take on LA clippers.

There will be 72 regular-season games instead of the usual 82. Some arenas will have fans while others won’t. Only the first half of the season’s schedule has been published. And the season is scheduled to end in May.

Since March, this is the first time all 30 NBA teams are playing this week. Only 22 teams went to the NBA bubble at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, when the season started.

For eight teams, Minnesota, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Chicago, Golden State, Detroit and Cleveland games will be played for the first time since March. Other teams, it’s since August, others since September.

The league has had 30 teams since 2004 and according to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, it might be time to consider expansion once again. He said, “It’s an economic issue and it’s a competitive issue for us. So, it’s one that we’ll continue to study, but we’re spending a little bit more time on it than we were pre-pandemic.

The first half of the season will run through March 4th, the second half starting March 11th and running through May 16th. The play in tournament goes from 18th of May through May 21st. The playoffs will start on the 22nd of May and the last possible date for the NBA Finals being 22nd July.
