Dec, 8th 2020 – Kenya U17 National team coach Oliver Page has named the final squad for the upcoming CECAFA U17 Championships to be played from 12th to 22nd of this month in Rwanda.

The squad largely features players who formed part of the FKF Center of Excellence that reached the final last year.

England-based James Gachago is set to captain the side. 2019 CECAFA U15 Championships best goalkeeper Alvin Odari will also be out to prove a point in the U17 edition.

The team departs for Rwanda today. Kenya has been pooled in Group A alongside South Sudan, Uganda, and Ethiopia. Group B comprises Rwanda, Tanzania, Sudan, and Djibouti.

Defending champions Uganda have also named their squad for the competition. Coach Hamuza Lutalo chose a 20 man squad hoping to successfully defend their title.

Those in the team include Express FC duo Mwebe Henry, Humphrey Oyirwoth Defenders Ibrahim Juma (KCCA FC), Enock Luyima (Volf), Simon Mukisa (KCCA), Peter Gava (Express FC), among others.

Uganda and Kenya are aiming to renew their rivalry after the U20 teams met in the semi-finals a couple of days ago.
