Bishop John Bosco calls for peaceful Msambweni by-elections

Dec, 8th 2020 – Bishop John Bosco of Redeemed Gospel Church in Ukunda Township, has called on politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns, in the Msambweni parliamentary by-election campaign.

He said that the ongoing campaigns have been peaceful, urging the locals to uphold the same standards during the elections, slated for December 15th.

The religious leader called on parliamentary aspirants and their political parties on the campaign trail, to uphold peace noting that it was imperative for the people to vote in a peaceful environment.

The Bishop who is the church’s regional overseer said that in order to ensure that the outcome is widely accepted by the people, the electoral race should remain peaceful.

Accompanied by ODM flag bearer Omar Boga, Bishop Bosco said that any slight violence will lead to disruptions of social and economic developments.

The Msambweni Parliamentary seat has been vacant since the death of area MP Suleiman Dori in March.

He added that it is high time for Kenyans to learn to tolerate one another regardless of political affiliations, ethnicity or religious stance.

Coast Region Commissioner John Elungata has warned the security agencies will deal with any group that threatens to disrupt the mini poll.

He said that the agencies will ensure peaceful by-elections in Msambweni constituency as well as wards by-elections in kilifi, Dabaso and Wudanyi, Taita Taveta.
