Dec, 4th 2020 – Reports Neymar will only sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain if the French giants complete a deal for Barcelona captain Lionel Messi next summer. The Brazilian winger has been linked with a move away over the past 18 months for a potential return move to former club Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Messi will be out of contract at the Catalan club in the summer of 2021 and nearly left the LaLiga giants earlier this year after a fall-out with former president Joseph Maria
It is no secret that Neymar and Messi still maintain close contact away from the pitch despite the Brazilian departing Camp Nou in 2017. His latest indication was a statement from the PSG man saying that he wants another reunion with the Barcelona captain.
His contract expires in 2022 as he has intensified the speculations over his future revealing his desire to link up with Messi again after the pair won two LaLiga titles, three Spanish Cups together with the 2015 Champions League and Club World Cup titles.
According to Spanish Outlet Mundo Deportivo, the 28 year old wants to see his friend at the Parc des Princes Neymar could join Messi at Barcelona but the chances are slim. The decision will also depend on the outcome of the presidential elections at the club set to take place in January.
Speaking on Wednesday after PSG’s 3-1 win over Manchester United, Neymar told ESPN, “What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch.” Many of the candidates are still divided on the idea of bringing Neymar back to the club.
