30/ 11/2020 – Close to 110 civilians were at killed in an attack on farmers in north-east of Nigeria.
This is according to the UN, which says, many others were wounded in the attacks.
Earlier reports said more than 40 farmers were killed at a rice farm near Maiduguri, with the latest reports indicating that the number of casualties, is far higher than the figure given by the Nigerian authorities.
UN’s resident humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria Edward Kallon, said armed men on motorcycles, ambushed a brutal attack on farmers harvesting rice in Koshobe, Borno state.
He further said, the UN condemns the attack and has called for the arrest of the perpetrators.
Over the weekend, Borno governor asked for the recruitment of more young people as vigilantes, to help in the uprising attacks in the region.
Authorities are yet to connect a specific group to the attacks.
