Nov, 24th 2020 – Millicent Muthoni Kithinji, the host of the 44 school children that were arrested in a house party at Nairobi’s Mountain View Estate, has been detained for seven days for police to complete investigations. Kithinji was arraigned alongside David Kibe Wambui, George Kamau Muthoni and Michael Murega.

The prosecution says that the  teenagers were involved in pornography and drugs in the presence of the four suspects. Director of Public Prosecution had earlier urged the court to give them seven days to complete the investigations.

Milimani Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot noted that although the suspects were entitled to bail, the allegation by the state was weighty enough to persuade him that they needed to be in custody.

He said, “I have considered the application and submissions by the prosecution and the respondents. I have considered that the respondents have a constitutional right to bail and also considered that there are children who are involved. There is a need for the respondents to be held in custody. I allow the application as prayed.”

The court heard that the police are investigating a network that is operating within the country. An investigator, Julius Oguma said that he needed to establish whether the four were connected to the incident involving children in Komarock.

The suspects were arrested on Sunday in Kithinji’s house and will be remanded at Kabete Police station.
