BBI signature collection set to launch on Wednesday

Nov, 24th 2020 – The signature collection exercise to endorse the BBI is to be launched this Wednesday by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

This exercise had been scheduled for Thursday 19th November but failed due to late completion and publication of The Constitution Amendment Bill 2020.

In a statement, the joint secretariat led by Suna East MP junet Mohammed and Dennis Waweru, they called on Kenyans to join the BBI train as it will see an end to Corruption, Ethnic antagonism, Marginalization of sections of society, youth empowerment, women and the disabled.

According to the statement, the secretariat said that while they are pushing for the process, Covid-19 protocols are being adhered to. “However, we want to state that the issues contained in the constitutional amendment issues are important issues that will move our country forward. Once again, the BBI Train is leaving the station this Wednesday.”

The BBI secretariat had announce the postponement of the signature collection citing late completion and publication of the constitutional amendment bill 2020.

Last week, the statement read, “The National secretariat of the Building Bridges Initiative wishes to announce the postponement of the launch of a collection of signatures earlier scheduled for 19th November 2020. The postponement has been necessitated by the late completion and publication of the constitutional amendment bill 2020 which is scheduled for printing later tonight.
