Nov 23rd 2020 – Nigeria’s Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on parts of the state following an increase in cult activities and violence.
According to the governor, the area around the Okoto-Nu-Odu flyover in Rumuokoro, will be under curfew for 14 days.
However, in a statement, a construction company working on a section of the flyover, has been excused from the curfew, so that work could continue.
“The governor has also warned that the government will spare no efforts to deal appropriately with anyone who decides to disturb peace and security in the State with cult activities and associated violence and killings,” read a statement in part.
Youths have been advised to beware of cult activities, and not to get lured.
