Nov, 18th 2020 – The CECAFA under 20 tournament in Tanzania will be played without fans after CAF insisted despite Tanzania having no COVID-19 restrictions. The tournament kicks off on Sunday in Arusha Tanzania.
Kenya is in group C together with Ethiopia and Sudan. According to TFF secretary general Wilfred Kidao, their efforts to convince Caf to have fans during the competition, have hit a snag since the African body feels it is a tournament for junior players and that Covid-19 protocols must be adhered to.
For the 2020 CECAFA U-20 championship, a total of 39 match officials have been appointed as it commences on the 22nd of November and ends on the 6th of December. These include two general coordinators, two assistant general coordinators, three refereeing committee members, four match commissioners, elven referees, twelve assistant referees with four instructors and assessors.
There are three groups with hosts and defending champions. Uganda, of the 39, has only two officials who are; William Oloya, center referee and Emmanuel Okudra assistant referee. Group C consists of Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan.
In the 2019 championships hosted by Uganda at Pece War Memorial Stadium, Gulu and FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, Kenya was the runners up.
