The United Nations says that agencies are struggling to provide help to Tigray following a fallout with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. This comes as the Ethiopian government is conducting Military offensive against forces loyal to the state’s authorities. A number of refugees have been hosted in Sudan even as Sudan prepares to host hundred of thousand others.
Among challenges that the region of Tigray is facing, includes denied entry of food and health supplies. The UN Resident and Humanitarian Co-ordinator for Ethiopia says providing humanitarian assistance had been difficult since the conflict began. the prime minister however states that his government is helping Tigray through the controlled federal army.
Both the federal government and Tigrayan authorities are scaling up efforts to mobilise resources – indicating the conflict could go on for some time. This has in turn led to fears of a civil war. Groups showing support to have come up with blood donation campaigns for the national army.
