Oct 28th, 2020 – The Kenyan Clinical Officers’ Union, now wants the government to ban political gatherings, to contain the further spread of Covid-19 in the country.
The Union’s Secretary-General, George Gibore, says the opening of political gatherings will soon cause the hospital to be overwhelmed with patients.
“We can engage in BBI politics through the media…..politicians should stop engaging in irresponsible politics,” said Gibore.
The workers are also asking, for more PPE’s, to minimize the rising cases of front-line health workers being infected by the virus.
Among other demands, they want health care workers who are pregnant, elderly above 55 years, and those with preexisting medical conditions to be excluded from active duty.
Meanwhile the Mombasa County Assembly has suspended sittings for two weeks, after 3 members, reportedly tested positive,for Covid-19.
The Assembly Deputy Speaker, Fadhili Makarani confirmed the closure saying all officials who were in close contact with the infected need to self-isolate.
