Oct 28th, 2020 – Anti_Corruption Magistrate Thomas Nzioki is today expected to rule whether the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) doctors, will be allowed to examine the health status of former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu.
The is after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) accused Waititu of using his alleged sickness to derail the hearing of a Kshs 588 million shillings graft case.
Senior Assistant prosecutor Joseph Riungu and Victor Mule, requested the court to allow the independent doctors to do the examination on Waititu after he failed for the third time to show up in court with his lawyers saying Waititu was admitted.
“The conduct of the accused person is meant to delay the hearing of this case. He has not indicated whether there will be a review. This court can’t be held in abeyance…we also go to hospital and the doctors indicate when we should go back for reviews,’’ Riungu said.
