Oct 22nd 2020 – The BBI report is already facing opposition from politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, says the document is very bad for the stability of the country, as it creates an imperial President, unstable executive, and expensive governance structure.

On his Twitter account, the senator wrote “BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020 is VERY GOOD for Presidential candidates, especially the front runners. In the END, politicians gain but the people lose.

He also took a swipe at the process of appointing IEBC officials, saying the four commissioners chosen by the political class may serve the interests of their appointing authority.

The document proposes seven commissioners, four, appointed by parliamentary political parties.

Murkomen however commended the proposal, that increases county allocations from 15-35 percent.
