Oct 21st, 2020 – Marcus Rashford repeated his late heroics against Paris St-Germain(PSG) with a superb winner as Manchester United marked their return to the Champions League with a fine 2-1 win at the home of last season’s beaten finalists.
“The system allowed us to express ourselves going forward and to be tight defensively, which I think we did as well as we could. Of course, it’s a big win and a perfect position to be in because we got a lot to improve on as well,” said the England international.
The visitors had excelled in a first half which saw Bruno Fernandes give them the lead with a twice-taken penalty.
But the multiple French champions were far stronger and threatening in the second half and deservedly drew level when United striker Anthony Martial headed into his own net.
David de Gea had to put in a much-improved display in United’s goal, making strong saves to deny PSG’s superstar duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
In other results Barcelona beat ferencvaros 5-1, Borussia Dortmund lost 3-1 in the hands of Lazio, and Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Sevilla. Juventus without Ronaldo beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 and RB Leipzig saw off Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0.
