Muturi says parliament to vet Uhuru’s nominees upon sitting resumption

Tuesday, 20th October – The national assembly is expected to vet the nominees to the positions of High Commissioners and Ambassadors when the house resumes on 3rd of November.

In a communication, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi says that he has received the  nominees from the office of the president. A notification dated 16th October, from the Speaker was to inform Members of Parliament about the impending business of the House.

Part of his notification read, “It is notified to all Members of the National Assembly that on Thursday, October 15, 2020, I received a message from H.E. the President regarding nomination for appointment of sixteen persons to the positions of High Commissioners and Ambassadors in Embassies/High Commissions/Missions of the Republic of Kenya abroad.”

The names have now been committed to the departmental committee  on defense and foreign relations.

According to the notification by Muturi, the list are comprising only 16 nominees. The list of the nominees issued by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua had 25 nominees, among them former IEBC commissioners Margaret Mwachanya, Connie Nkatha and Paul Kurgat
