19th Oct 2020 – The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), has postponed the Class 8 and Grade 4 assessment tests, which were scheduled to begin today.
In a circular, the council’s Acting CEO, Mercy Karogo said the move was due to the 20th Mashujaa holiday, planned to take place in Kisii county.
“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to inform you that due to the Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, the date for administration of learning assessment tools has changed,” read part of the KNEC circular.
Earlier, Karogo had stated that, the tests were meant to establish the preparedness of the learners, as they continue with the curriculum. They were also to help them re-adjust and refocus from the Covid-19 break.
According to KNEC, the candidates were scheduled to begin with Mathematics, English, and Composition on the first day.
KNEC says, the tests will now run from Wednesday until Monday, 26th of October, while those for other classes, will be conducted upon their re-opening.
