MOH to begin random covid-19 testing in schools

The Ministry of Health will conduct random Covid-19 tests in schools to monitor the infection rate among children. Health CAS Rashid Aman, has stated that the testing is based on the fact that most cases are asymptomatic. He continues to say that the Ministry has laid out protocols to ensure students who are symptomatic are well dealt with. he further added that the ministry will be forced to conduct some form of monitoring in schools.

“We will be required to do some level of testing to see whether there is infection among asymptomatic cases,” he said. The country Yesterday reported 318 new Covid-19 infections from a sample size of 2, 592. 10 people succumbed to the virus, raising the fatality toll to 787.

Over three million learners have reported back to school across the country following the directive by the government on resumption of studies. Schools partially reopened on Monday with Standard Eight, Grade Four and Form Four learners reporting back, six months after their closure following the Covid-19 outbreak.
